Gifts
By Joe Poskin, CEO of PRIER Products
At this time of year I am always in a reflective mood, both professionally and personally. At PRIER we review and assess our past year’s efforts then plan and budget the upcoming year and beyond. Personally, I look at myself mentally, physically and spiritually. How am I doing, what should I be doing, what is my plan of attack this year? Throughout this process what struck me over and over again is the number of gifts I receive, not only notable ones throughout the year but the many I receive every day! It humbles me and makes me grateful.
The Giving Season
By Ieshia Mayes, Accounting Specialist
As many would say, it is the giving season!!! Everyone is always so happy during the holidays. People say it’s the most wonderful time of the year; time to catch all of the great sales while shopping, host holiday parties and wrap presents! What about the rest of the year? At PRIER, we are encouraged to give back to the community through charitable giving and volunteer time throughout the year. PRIER even matches our contributions! How cool is that? There are many ways you can give. Here are just a few:
It Doesn't Matter What's Under the Tree
By David Casey, Cut-to-Length Lead
With the Thanksgiving holiday just passing, I wanted to spend some time reflecting some of things for which I am thankful.
This year, I am thankful for living in the number one country in the world, for its freedom and democracy. I am also thankful for my job… its respect for its workers and customers. I am thankful that PRIER entrusts, has knowledge, offers training skills, and has given me an opportunity.
Keeping the Spark in Your Machines
By PRIER Distribution Team Member
We have all at one time or another been working on some sort of project when the tools we use fail. This is unfortunate, frustrating, and time consuming to correct this problem. Coming up with a proper preventative maintenance procedures would help fight against equipment failure, saving time and money.
A simple daily or weekly checklist should do the trick. Below are just some examples you can use to make a checklist of your own.
Do You Need This App?
By Cheryl Landsman, Customer Service Manager
Have you ever had to call a company and ask a question about their product? You get a very nice person on the phone. You ask a simple question about the product. The very nice person answers your question and you don’t understand a word they have just said. If only there was a way to translate techno-speak.
Halloween in Kansas City means Winterize and VOTE!
By Scott Livingston, National Sales Manager
I love Halloween with the family and with it brings fall decorations for my wife, trick or treating for my kids and winterizing projects for dad. Don’t get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy carving pumpkins, watching the princesses and goblins come by for candy and receiving all the “Almond Joys” that my kids won’t eat. But when the candy highs subside and the jack-o-lanterns are smashed, it is time for me to get the house ready for winter.
Fear of Failure
By Nick Manning, President
“I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.”
–Thomas A. Edison
I have the great blessing to have children who are in high school and beginning their college search, and have also been blessed with some very sharp people here at PRIER who are early in their management careers. The similarity I have noticed from many of these people I am privileged to oversee is their fear of what they perceive to be failure. Certainly the “high schoolers” and the “managers” are at different levels of their lives, but the similarities of what I am calling the fear of failure piqued my interest.
