For me, the 4th of July is a day of celebration with picnics, barbecue, fireworks, parades, food and drinks with family and friends.  It is when American pride is as its best.  Old Glory and the red white and blue are everywhere.  In our neighborhood, we have a block party with a bicycle parade.  This hand-decorated assembly of bicycles, strollers, wagons and scooters is decked out in balloons, paint, signs and streamers.  Every child has a USA flag tattoo and is wearing their patriotic best. Our dog is decorated in streamers and a funny hat but can’t wait to go inside because of the fire crackers she hears.  We begin our parade by saluting the flag and saying the National Anthem.  Our own version of George Washington holds the flag, salutes and we follow him around the block to the tune of Star Spangled Banner and other patriotic songs. At the end of the parade, we enjoy bomb pops and red melted cupcakes with sprinkles.  It is a great show of patriotism, as everyone shows off their pride.
