PRIER the Employer

PRIER Products is definitely known for the manufacturing, selling and distributing of brass cast plumbing products but there is something else it’s manufacturing that is less obvious. PRIER is creating a pay it forward type culture within its company. There is a little known trick to the trade that the PRIER management is nailing; they are completely devoted to making their people happy. When I was job hunting I noticed this commitment through the words used in their mission statement. I noticed articles on the walls during my interview where the CEO was quoted regarding the respect and appreciation PRIER shows its employees. “Nothing matters without the people,” Joe Poskin said in a 2005 article. That was 11 years ago and PRIER still has an impressive welcoming package for a new hire such as myself. Through this blog I want to invite all of our customers to consider the impact employee morale has on their products. I will share a few aspects of coming into this new job that made me realize PRIER is top notch as a place to work.

Disconnected!

Disconnected!  No, I am not talking about your wifi connection or your phone charger.  I am talking about our disconnection with each other, from humanity.  Over the years, with the advancement of technology, we have lost touch with one another. Which is ironic since most of these advancements are in the fields of communication. However, the forms of communication being used today are taking away from the one-on-one, in-person connection. We are all guilty.  Sending an email or text is so much quicker and easier for us, but what does this do to our relationships with each other?

Dobree Dén and Do Svidάniya

For most of my life, my father and I have traveled the world together. As a child, I was an army brat and now that my father is retired, my vacations from PRIER are spent accompanying him on his continued search for new places and new experiences. At the time, growing up the way I did seemed like a burden.  Now I realize how fortunate I was and how those experiences have opened doors for me. They taught me to relate to the new people I meet every single day. I have learned that saying “hello” and “goodbye” to the people in my life is an opportunity and that living in the moment and enjoying each day, as it presents itself, is a treasure.

Inspired by Technology

Here at PRIER, we are constantly evolving. In the beginning of 2016, we switched to software that required more an upgrade in our technology (i.e. tablets, scanning equipment, cloud usage, etc.). This was an exciting yet arduous move, but we needed our employees to switch gears; sort of like a bicycle.

PRIER Hosts Kansas City ASPE Chapter

May 10, 2016 - Grandview, MO - PRIER Products proudly hosted the Kansas City ASPE Chapter this past week for a tour of their Manufacturing Plant and newly constructed Sales, Training and Distribution Center on its property in Grandview, MO. PRIER presented the new facility, including training rooms, sales and engineering offices and warehouse alongside their A-quality manufacturing processes.

April 21, 2016 – Grandview, MO – PRIER Products is proud to announce the appointment of Lilly Fields as the General and Administrative Coordinator. Lilly will be responsible for HR, accounting, IT and building/maintenance while coordinating and tracking multiple projects in those areas. A typical day for Lilly may include processing payroll, hosting a company luncheon, purchasing supplies, sourcing a new copier and analyzing inventory cost variances.
