'Tweet', 'like', 'hashtag' and 'follow' are just a few of the words that have been redefined through the innovations of social media. Even those who are not active on these popular social media platforms have become aware of the terms by sheer magnitude. Top magazine articles drool over Justin Beiber’s latest tweets and even mainstream news sources have begun using Facebook photos for their stories.

Fall brings football, autumn leaves and trade shows for the Plumbing Industry. PRIER is gearing up for the American Supply Associations (ASA) Fall Conference and the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) organization's Engineered Products Exposition. These gatherings are a great time to see new products, learn new ideas and network with the leaders of our industry. We are a strong advocate of the industry trade organizations and realize the information shared at these events is very helpful. If you haven’t attended one of these events lately, you don’t know what you are missing!

Even though the weather and the drought here in Kansas City might tell a different story, the fall season is close! I can tell because all my kids are back in school, and the election blabbering is in full force.
The grade school that three of my children attend is a “golden rule school." Students are taught to use the golden rule as their basis for making a difficult decision and to show respect for all people they come in contact with. Are these kids, perfect? Certainly not, but I greatly appreciate the teachers and administration of the school with their efforts.

The definition of teamwork is, “The process of working collaboratively with a group of people in order to achieve a goal.” A team can be any group of people including your family. I was inspired to do a blog on teamwork from watching the 2012 Olympics. The Olympics is all about teamwork, because each athlete has a job and their success depends on the effort and reliability of their teammates.

PRIER strives to be the best in all aspects including providing a healthy workplace for their employees. All PRIER employees have lunch together twice a month and the meals that are prepared are well balanced and nutritious. It’s not at all like being on a “diet”. After sampling a few dishes, I thought, “If this is healthy eating, I’m all in."

After months of anticipation and training, the 2012 Olympics are upon us. Competitors from all over the globe are ready to vie for the gold in their selected athletic venues. Of course, there are favorites who will take home the gold. You have names such as Phelps, Lochte, Franklin and many more that are competing, and we have come to know them as “top contenders” who always go for the gold. When I see them on the television set, putting all that effort in for that top spot, I am reminded of PRIER. You could compare and see such similarities that put PRIER in gold standings.

I have customer service in my blood – really! I started at age 10 with a paper route around my neighborhood. Ever since then I have loved helping people. I spent 20 years in the restaurant business starting out in food service and ending up managing high end restaurants; 5 years in the retail business working for Williams-Sonoma and now 5 years at PRIER Products helping people with their plumbing issues.
Customer service is an essential part of almost every business. My experience has taught me that there are a few rules to follow and if you do, the outcome will be positive for your company and your customers.
