As I have written in the past, PRIER’s Mission Statement is very important to me. It is my barometer for the decision making process at PRIER. A couple of the tenets of the Mission Statement, namely, To Operate Under The Will of God and To Treat All Relationships with Respect and Professionalism, are the reasons why PRIER decided, years ago, that as a business we would tithe, or give away 10% of our profits to worthy causes.

At PRIER, we are always looking for ways to continuously improve; therefore, having a finely tuned supply chain is an essential, ongoing effort that makes us better. In order to do so, we persistently assess how each process in our supply chain adds customer value, and we try to eliminate everything else that does not. The initial tendency is to only look inward for improvements; however, we have found tremendous opportunities outside of our four walls where we have eliminated waste and enhanced overall performance.

One of my mother’s sayings was, “pretty is as pretty does.” When I think of that saying, whether I am repeating it or something reminds me of it; I can see my mother’s face and I can hear her voice. Depending on what brings it to mind, my mother’s image changes. She could be pleased, disappointed or frustrated. Here at PRIER, we strive for “A-Quality” in everything we do. You might not think of plumbing products as being “pretty,” but when a product performs the way you want it to, it is a beautiful thing!

Part of PRIER’s Mission Statement is to have fun at work. To help promote fun, PRIER has a Spirit Committee with one person from each department. This year I am representing the Sales and Marketing department. At the end of December we met and planned our year of fun activities – one per month. Part of our job is to come up with fun things that we can do both during the work day and outside of work to provide a fun break in our busy day and spend time together outside the company doors.
