As the Office Manager at PRIER, one of my department’s jobs is to answer the phones. We are the “voice of PRIER”. When I am interviewing a potential new team member, I always make sure they know the most important thing they do is to make a great first impression on anyone calling our number. We smile as we say, “Thank you for calling PRIER Products. This is Cindy, how may I help you?”

Fall brings football, autumn leaves and trade shows for the plumbing industry. PRIER is gearing up for the American Supply Association (ASA) Fall Conference and the ASPE Convention and Exposition. These gatherings are a great time to see new products, learn new ideas and network with the leaders of our industry. We are a strong advocate of the industry trade organizations and appreciate the information shared at these events. If you haven’t attended one of these events lately, you don’t know what you are missing!

As the Office Manager at PRIER, one of my jobs is to help keep everyone motivated and moving in the same direction. In today’s hurried hi-tech life we all get distracted from time to time. One of the most valuable lessons I've learned is to focus on the here and now. All too often, we find ourselves hurrying through work or life focusing on the goal at the end of the road and we miss opportunities that are right before our eyes. It is important to have a plan and to stick to it, but your plan should include time for the present.

In most manufacturing organizations, there are nearly unlimited ways to improve the manufacturing process and at PRIER, we certainly embrace the mentality of continuous improvement. One way we determine how to improve is by looking at return on investment (ROI). ROI is one of three ways PRIER makes money (the other two, as stated in our Mission Statement, are through profitability and cash flow management), and in doing so, we weigh a project’s net present value, payback (ROI in years) and feasibility. There may be 100 things we can or should do, but we have to ask ourselves, which 2-5 projects can we accomplish this year while getting the biggest bang for our buck?
