The Royals recently became everyone’s favorite underdog as the biggest baseball surprise in 29 years! They had a fabulous win last Tuesday night to win the “do or die” Wild Card Playoff game in the bottom of the 12th inning and again this week against the Los Angeles Angels. Many who watched the Royals playoff win against the Oakland A’s said it was the best game they had ever witnessed. It broke a 29 year drought of playoff baseball for a loyal group of fans that has suffered far too long and is definitely relishing these wins. Now, after a win against the Los Angeles Angels, the Royals are far from finished! They are heading to the American League Championship Series beginning Friday, October 10th.
Last week’s Royals win was less than 24 hours after the Kansas City Chiefs throttled the New England Patriots and our fans set the Guinness Book of World Records loudest stadium record at 142.2 decibels. PRIER will be cheering on this Sunday as the Chiefs take on the San Diego Chargers.
Finally, last Wednesday, our Sporting KC major league soccer team had the amazing opportunity to visit the President at the White House after winning the 2013 Championship. During the visit, the President stated, “this must be a great time to be from Kansas City.” Thank you Mr. President, yes it is a great time to be from Kansas City!
This all comes in during the best time of the year when Kansas City hosts the American Royal Barbeque. The event attracts 50,000 people who are grilling and smoking the finest meats in the country with live entertainment. This is serious barbeque with the best competitive teams from all over the country–and all while the Hollywood Casino Sprint Cup race is going on for all of the NASCAR fans!
