Although I was looking for something permanent, one day I talked myself into going to a temporary service to see if they had any long term assignments in my field. It must have been my lucky day because they did have an assignment for me however, it was not the position I wanted. I knew that it did not matter as long as it paid. Whatever I was assigned to do I would give it 110%.
On September 21, 2007, I was sent to PRIER Products, Inc. to work in production. After my first day, I thought, “wow, my feet are killing me” but nothing I could not handle. As time passed, I learned so much and could do just about everything in production. My hard work was quickly noticed by PRIER as I went from being a production line worker to a production line lead in a matter of months. Over the years I became the lead at CTL (cut to length), Mansfield, P2 and Quality Control/RGA.
In 2011, a position was posted on the information board near the break room for a Buyer in the Purchasing Department. After reading the qualifications, I determined that this was something I could do. Although I lacked a couple of the qualifications, I applied for the position anyway. A week later I was called into the office for an interview. Needless to say I was given an opportunity to show that I could, in fact, fulfill the responsibilities of the position and I was determined not to let PRIER down. My hard work was noticed by PRIER and that is why I believe I was given the opportunity to further move up in the company.
Two years later, another position was posted to the information board near the break room for a Manufacturing Assistant. For the second time, I read the qualifications and determined that I could fulfill the responsibilities of this position so I applied. I got the position!
Here at PRIER, we are given multiple opportunities to grow. The fact that PRIER loves to promote within is only a reflection of the Mission Statement; “To helping all associate become what they are meant to be both inside and outside of PRIER.” I have been given many opportunities here at PRIER and I have not let one pass me by. Thank you to PRIER for making me a better person!
A phrase I have told myself over the years of growing with PRIER: “The more you know, the more you grow!”
