Our Diamond Series of residential wall hydrants evolved from listening to our customers. We began making and delivering these products in April of this year and they are a direct result of listening. We had been hearing from plumbers that our inlet seat was not desirable because it was larger than the diameter of the copper tube. Therefore, our design team re-engineered these inlets to make it slim and easier to install. Our customer service team also heard feedback from customers regarding the stems on the “Mansfield Style” hydrant. The stems seemed to be sticking when opening. PRIER addressed this concern by creating a better stem without the spring loaded back flow preventer. We are so confident in the reliability improvements from these issues that we even decided to increase the product warranty on Diamond Series hydrants from 1 year to 3 years.
PRIER also began making special finish valves recently as a direct result from listening to homeowners who mentioned they wanted an Oil Rubbed Bronze finish on their outdoor faucet. We initially thought this idea was crazy for an outdoor hose spigot. We knew this special finish was going to require new procedures and a lot of extra work however, from listening to the customer, we saw an excellent market for this. Since then, we have made and sold many of these hot and cold hydrants with a special finish that our customers rave about and show off to their neighbors.
In conclusion, listening is not easy for many. It requires focusing on the customer’s concerns and not our own. It is however, very important to learn and grow and as a result, make PRIER a better company.
