This certainly conflicts with the political discourse that is prevalent today. I understand all candidates are trying to get elected at the expense of their opponent, but it seems the behavior of the candidates, their staffs and advisors is poor at best. Of course this is consistent with the unfortunate behavior of the “talking heads” on radio and television. It seems to me they are all trying to get everyone to “look at me!” and I’m not sure if they even believe what they are saying! I think the news and conversations are generally negative today, and I don’t like that and don’t want my family and friends to get caught up in the negativity. The behavior certainly goes against PRIER’s mission statement objective of treating all relationships with respect and professionalism.
Our industry is better than that! Here are just a few examples:
Chris Martin, owner of Rooter Inc. and Tim Schuler, owner of T & C Plumbing helped out a family in their area who had a potentially dangerous situation they could not afford to resolve. Congratulations to Gem Plumbing for their encouragement of good deeds in the classroom. Guys like Tony Reaves and how they help their community are inspiration to me. Anderson Plumbing Heating and Air also actively helps their community be better. These are just a few of the instances I’ve found with a few moments searching the internet. I know there are thousands more that have happened this year alone.
Let’s not let the negativity taint how we think about what is happening in our nation. Think about the people listed above and the thousands of others who do good deeds. The beauty of our country is the people who are helped will “pay it forward” and help someone else. Keeping the good deeds going and paying it forward will continue to make our industry and its people great.
