Product Support
PRIER has been manufacturing the C-144/244 Freezeless Hydrants since 1990. This freezeless hydrant has truly passed the test of time. It is a simple operating product that is fairly simple to repair. Possible Repair Issues for the C-144 Freezeless Wall Hydrant include:
1. When the water is running, water leaks out from behind the handle
The parts required for this are included in the service kit part number 630-7755.
2. The hydrant drips after shut off
Since a freezeless hydrant actually shuts off inside the heated portion of the structure, the water inside the hydrant will drain out after shutoff. The shutoff point could be any distance from 4" to 14" inside the structure. This installation should also be pitched to allow the water to easily drain out of the hydrant. The hydrant may drip for up to 60 seconds after shutoff. If the water continues to drip after that time, you most likely need to replace the seat washer. This is a "OO Beveled Seat Washer" and is included in the service kit part number 630-7755.
3. Water leaks from under the plastic cap on top of the valve
The parts required for this are included in part number 630-7500 Vacuum Breaker Replacement kit.
*PLEASE NOTE: Since the creation of this video, we have updated our vacuum breakers to aluminum caps as shown above. The C-144KT-806 and 630-7500 are now universal vacuum breaker kits and will fit all past and present PRIER and Mansfield style residential hydrants.
4. Water is leaking from the hydrant inside my house
DO NOT OPERATE THE HYDRANT IF THIS HAS OCCURRED.
Please remove the handle to prevent accidental operation until the problem is repaired by your plumber.
5. The handle is missing from my hydrant
The required kit is part number 630-7965.
6. The stem end is damaged and I cannot operate the freezeless hydrant
Occasionally the stem of the PRIER Mansfield Style Freezeless Hydrant gets damaged beyond repair. This is most commonly caused by the hydrant being operated by pliers and damaging the brass on the end.
To determine the proper replacement stem, you will need to determine the length of the stem, from brass tip to brass tip. This will give you the Overall Length (OAL) of the stem. Next, please use the following document to match up the correct part number: Identifying Your Mansfield Style Hydrant
7. The spring (seat) end is damaged and you cannot operate the freezeless hydrant
